  2. The College’s DNA comes from two art and design schools, Saint Martin’s School of Art, established in 1854, and the Central School of Art, founded 1896. Research CSM has an established and thriving research community.

  3. Both believed in the fundamental importance of learning through making and were known for their radical approach to art and design – values which remain at the core of our teaching today. In 1989, the two colleges merged to form Central Saint Martins. We welcomed Drama Centre London in 1999 and the Byam Shaw School of Art in 2003.

  6. LABASAD goes to Canada: the Art & Design Graduate School Fair at OCAD University A few days ago we traveled to Toronto, Canada, to participate in an art and design graduate school fair, where the best art and design schools from all over the world meet.

It was renamed the Leningrad Vera Mukhina Higher School of Art and Design in 1953 (after Vera Mukhina, the monumentalist author of Worker and Kolkhoz Woman, whose name was a symbol of Soviet art). As Mukhina was not personally linked to the school, the educational establishment (informally known as Mukha ) was renamed after its founder in 1994.
