Gang Starr. HIP-HOP/RAP · 1999. Ten years is a long time in the music business, and in the ever-changing hip-hop universe, it's even longer. Not many artists can hold it together for a decade, and the ones who do often end up switching their style to stay relevant, or churning out listless imitations of their far superior old material.
Gang Starr Foundation est formé en 1993 par The Vikar. En mai 2007 , le membre de la Gang Starr Foundation, Big Shug, publie son album solo Readies Sophomore [ 1 ] . En fin 2010, DJ Premier publie une compilation Year Round Records: Get Used To Us , qui fait participer Nick Javas, NYG'z et Khalil, en compagnie de Freddie Foxxx, Lady of Rage, Royce Da 5'9 et KRS-One [ 2 ] .
Just with the intro of "Name Tag", the setting of mood with a simple chopped loop as an introduction is classic Gang Starr, and really feels different for the time period. The tempos are not as aggressive as on "No More Mr. Nice Guy" but still several tracks keep it moving as it was 1990, but most notably the attack is far more focused.
29 de out. de 2019 · The rap duo’s last album was released in 2003. After the death of its M.C., Guru, and an ongoing dispute between the producers DJ Premier and DJ Solar, a posthumous release is on the way.
