  1. Biography. Marianne was born in 1788 in Maryland, USA. She was the daughter of Richard Caton and Mary 'Polly' Carroll and the granddaughter of Charles Carroll of Carrollton, a signatory to the Declaration of Independence. Marianne married Robert Patterson and became the sister-in-law of Elizabeth (Patterson) Bonaparte.

  2. Richard Colley Wellesley, 1st Marquess Wellesley, (20 June 1760 – 26 September 1842) was an Anglo-Irish politician and colonial administrator. He was styled as Viscount Wellesley until 1781, when he succeeded his father as 2nd Earl of Mornington. In 1799, he was granted the Irish peerage title of Marquess Wellesley.

Tons burthen. 117, [1] or 118 ( bm) Marchioness Wellesley ( Marchioness of Wellesley) was a packet paddle steamer launched in 1826 for the Dublin and Wexford Steam Co. She may have been the first steamship built in Ireland. She operated out of Dublin and was last listed in 1838.
