  2. 6 de mai. de 2016 · I found Scenes from a Clerical Life a sad tale well told. It helped that had some background on Eliot's religious experience which explains her attitude towards Amos Barton. My copy of Scenes also contained Mr. Gilfil's Love Story, and Janet's Repentance. I thought both Gilfil and Janet were more enjoyable stories with a somewhat lighter tone.
