Market House. The picturesque Grade: 1 listed Market House in the centre of Tetbury was built in 1655 by Tetbury Feoffees and is still owned by them to this day. The Feoffees were founded in 1633 and at the time they were a group of four local residents from the town who bought the advowsons from the landowner and took responsibility for the towns future.

Sir William Romney (d. 1611), a native of Tetbury, was one of the founders of the East India Company. He set aside some money in his will for a school to help children read and write.
