Merton College (in full: The House or College of Scholars of Merton in the University of Oxford) is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford in England. Its foundation can be traced back to the 1260s when Walter de Merton, chancellor to Henry III and later to Edward I, first drew up statutes for an independent academic community and established endowments to support it.
21 de out. de 2021 · As part of their regular contributions to worship, the Choir of Merton College sing Choral Evensong, including a new set of Preces and Responses by Oxford Lieder’s Associate Composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad. Cheryl is also a Visiting Research Fellow at Merton College.
The main organ in Merton College Chapel was built by Dobson Pipe Organ Builders of Lake City, Iowa, USA and installed in 2013 ready for the College’s 750th anniversary celebrations in 2014. It is a three-manual organ of forty-four stops, and was opened by John Scott who gave the Dedication Concert on Saturday 26 April 2014.
