honour might have been Viscount Goderich, who lasted a mere four months in 1827–8. He had the added handicap of relative anonymity. For most of his long life he was known either as Frederick Robinson or the Earl of Ripon. It was only for a six-year stretch, which included his premiership, that he was known as Goderich.
