Downieville Has It All. Downieville is a mountain biking boomtown located along Highway 49 in the Lost Sierra region of the Tahoe National Forest. It was founded in 1849, during the historic gold rush. The village built along the banks of two (the North Yuba and the Downie) pristine spring and snowmelt-fed rivers is a year-round destination.

Downieville was founded in late 1849 during the California Gold Rush, in the Northern Mines area. It was first known as "The Forks" for its geographical location at the confluence of the Downie River and North Fork of the Yuba River. [4] It was soon renamed after Major William Downie (1820–1893), the town's founder.

Dunes Beach, en el extremo norte, y Francis Beach, en el extremo sur, son lugares estupendos para tomar el sol. Otras playas imperdibles son las de Cowell Ranch, Martins y Tunitas Creek.
