Peter Cushing was an English actor best known for his roles in the Hammer Horror films of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, as well as his performance as Grand Moff Tarkin in the original Star Wars film. Cushing began his career in the theatre, appearing in a number of West End productions in the 1930s and 1940s.
