The Royal Yacht Britannia can be reached from the centre of Edinburgh by tram (St Andrew’s Square to Ocean terminal) in around 15/20 minutes. You arrive at a shopping centre and the entrance to the start of the tour is on the ground floor. Opposite this is a gift shop which can be visited either before or after the tour.

The previous official boat had belonged to Queen Victoria and was rarely used. The tradition of royal yachts had been started by Charles II in 1660.
The visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia begins in the Visitor Centre found on the second floor of the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre. In this centre, you’ll be able to discover the vessel’s past through numerous photographs. Before visiting the Royal Yacht, you'll be given an English audio guide with all the details of the vessel.
