Among the highlights of the collection are a large number of letters to James Joyce, with around two hundred letters from his great supporter Harriet Shaw Weaver and correspondence from Paul Léon and writers such as H.G. Wells, T.S. Eliot, Ezra Pound and Beckett. There are around 100 letters from James and Nora Joyce written to family and friends.
Harriet Shaw Weaver was finally able to bring out her Egoist Ulysses in an edition of two thousand copies in October 1922. To evade legal troubles in England, she partnered with John Rodker to print it in France, from Sylvia Beach’s typeset plates.
