Friedrich von Schelling nació el 27 de enero de 1775 en Leonberg, Württemberg, Alemania. Hijo del pastor protestante Josephus Friedrich Schelling y de Gottliebin Marie Schelling. A los ocho años se inició en letras clásicas y en 1790 ingresó, con sólo dieciséis, en el seminario de Tubinga, donde tuvo por condiscípulos a Friedrich Hölderlin y a Friedrich Hegel .

Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph von Schelling est un philosophe allemand. Il fait ses études secondaires au gymnase de Nürtingen, où il apprend le latin et le grec. En octobre 1790, il entre au séminaire de Tübingen, où il a pour condisciples et amis Hölderlin et Hegel. En deux ans il obtient la maîtrise de philosophie.
