3 de abr. de 2013 · Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, CBE was a Booker prize-winning novelist, short story writer, and two-time Academy Award-winning screenwriter. She was perhaps best known for her long collaboration with Merchant Ivory Productions, made up of director James Ivory and the late producer Ismail Merchant. Their films won six Academy Awards.

The only screenwriter to win both the Booker Prize (for her novel Heat and Dust) and two Oscars, she also won a Guggenheim Fellowship (1976) and a MacArthur Award (1984), and was made Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 1998.
