Dirigió al equipo de mujeres calculadoras del Harvard College Observatory de Edward Charles Pickering. Descubrió la nebulosa Cabeza de Caballo, además de gran cantidad de novas, nebulosas gaseosas y estrellas variables.
Fleming died of pneumonia on May 21, 1911, at the age of 54. Editor’s note: Following publication of this film, it came to our attention through one of Williamina Fleming’s ancestors that the correct pronunciation of her first name is “William-eye-na” not “Willia-mee-na.”. We regret the mistake.
