Frederick (age 22), son of William Earl of Bessborough Ponsonby & Caroline Cavendish, married Henrietta Frances Spencer on 27 November 1780 in Saint James, Westminster, London, England. Frederick died on 3 February 1844 and was buried at Canford Magna Parish Church, Canford Magna, East Dorset District, Dorset, England.

The present holders – Frederick Ponsonby, 4th Baron Ponsonby of Shulbrede, and Rupert Ponsonby, 7th Baron de Mauley – are both fifth cousins of the 12th Earl of Bessborough.
