Despite the film's commercial failure, the book became a best-seller and was even reissued two years after the film's release, in 1984. Overall: Halloween III: Season of the Witch is one of my favorite guilty pleasure horror movies besides the nihilistic ending. While, it's not a good movie at all. It's still, entertaining.

Audiences bemoaned the lack of boogeyman Michael Myers in this lonely entry in the Halloween series, but it's actually a very creepy little chiller with a sinister portrayal of avuncular villainy from Dan O'Herlihy and Carpenter regular Tom Atkins as the boozy divorcee who finds himself in way over his head.
The one saving grace in "Halloween III" is Stacey Nelkin, who plays the heroine. She has one of those rich voices that makes you wish she had more to say and in a better role. But watch her, too, in the reaction shots: When she's not talking, she's listening. She has a kind of rapt, yet humorous, attention that I thought was really fetching.
