4 de jun. de 2010 · Rue McClanahan, the Emmy-winning actress who brought the sexually liberated Southern belle Blanche Devereaux to life on the hit TV series "The Golden Girls," has died. She was 76.
Later that year, McClanahan was scheduled to be feted at "Golden: A Gala Tribute to Rue McClanahan" in San Francisco, but the event was postponed when the actress had to be hospitalized. She endured triple bypass surgery, then a minor stroke, but seemed to be on the road to recovery.

3 de jun. de 2010 · Rue McClanahan was an American actress and comedian best known for her roles on television as Vivian Harmon on Maude (1972–78), Aunt Fran Crowley on Mama's Family (1983–84), and Blanche Devereaux on The Golden Girls (1985–92).
Although she had acted on screen since the 1960s McClanahan only found international fame as the man-eating Blanche Devereaux in The Golden Girls (1985-92), a character she reprised in the spin-off The Golden Palace (1992-93). She joined the show after Estelle Getty, who was the first actress to be cast in The Golden Girls. McClanahan was 51 years old by the time The Golden Girls premiered, and she was 58 when it concluded.
