The 35mm monochrome photography is crisp and with a strong level of fine detail present throughout, and it also displays some excellent contrast with very strong range within the mid-tones which shows off the film’s chiaroscuro photography.
Nick Garcos comes back from his tour of duty in World War II planning to settle down with his girlfriend, Polly Faber. Dassin also creates a lot of interesting tension and suspense in this film, elements you just wouldn't expect from a wannabe high-minded exposé.
