After the war Karl Gero von Urach studied architecture, and later worked as an architect in Munich. In 1928, on his father's death, Karl Gero became the third Duke ( Herzog ) of Urach, as his elder brother Wilhelm had resolved to marry morganatically (he was a director at Mercedes Benz for most of his life, and had two daughters).

Karl Joseph Wilhelm Florestan Gero Crescentius Fürst von Urach, Graf von Württemberg (* 15. Februar 1865 in Ulm ; † 5. Dezember 1925 in Stuttgart ) war ein deutscher Adeliger aus einer Nebenlinie des Hauses Württemberg und Offizier der württembergischen Armee.
Prince Wilhelm of Urach, Count of Württemberg, 2nd Duke of Urach (Wilhelm Karl Florestan Gero Crescentius; German: Fürst Wilhelm von Urach, Graf von Württemberg, 2. Herzog von Urach; 3 March 1864 – 24 March 1928), was a German prince who was elected in June 1918 as King of Lithuania, with the regnal name of Mindaugas II.
