5 de jun. de 2023 · In the early 1920s, nestled in Kansas City, Missouri, an animation revolution was taking shape in a small studio called Laugh-O-Gram Studio. Founded by Walt Disney himself, this humble studio became the birthplace of several iconic characters that would later shape the face of animation.
We’re doubly fortunate today that this ambitious effort survives practically intact – missing only the final scene in which Alice, like Goldie Locks (or Little Nemo), awakens from her dream by tumbling out of bed. If one supreme effort of creativity could have saved the Laugh-O-gram studio, Alice’s Wonderland would have done it.

Disney convinced Frank Newman, a leading movie theater owner in Kansas City, to show these short animations. The first of these, a humorous and satirical piece, is the only one that still exists today.

He joined Thank You Walt Disney shortly after it was formed in the mid-1990s. He suggested to the organization that they undertake to acquire, preserve and restore the building which housed Walt’s Laugh-O-gram Studio. Dan negotiated the purchase of that building from its previous owners. He has served on the TYWD Board for more than 25 years.
