On January 1, 1932, Camp Knox was made a permanent installation once again and since then has been known as Fort Knox. In February Brigadier General Julian R. Lindsey succeeded Van Voorhis as post commander. In 1933 the 1st Cavalry Regiment arrived at Fort Knox in their armored combat cars.
