Hastings was eighteen when he succeeded as Earl of Huntingdon and Baron Botreaux on his father's demise in 1746. The earl never married but did father an illegitimate son, Charles , by a Parisian girl named Mademoiselle Lany, a dancer at the Opera whilst on his Grand Tour with his friend David Murray, 7th Viscount Stormont in 1747 (which was sponsored by the 4th Earl of Chesterfield ).
Biography Francis Hastings was born on April 5, 1728, the eldest of seven children of Theophilus Hastings, 9th Earl of Huntingdon (1696-1746), and his wife Selina (Shirley) (1707-1791), a leader of the Methodist evangelical revival. He was eighteen when his father died and he became 10th Earl of Huntingdon.

Francis Edward Rawdon-Hastings, 1st Marquess of Hastings, KG, PC (9 December 1754 – 28 November 1826), styled The Honourable Francis Rawdon from birth until 1762, Lord Rawdon between 1762 and 1783, The Lord Rawdon from 1783 to 1793 and The Earl of Moira between 1793 and 1816, was an Anglo-Irish politician and military officer who served as Governor-General of India from 1813 to 1823.

George Hastings and Sarah Fowler.2 He married, firstly, Frances Cobbe, daughter of Reverend Richard Chaloner Cobbe and Sarah Burslem, on 12 May 1803.2 He married, secondly, Eliza Mary Bettesworth, daughter of Joseph Bettesworth, on 28 September 1820.2 He died on 9 December 1828 at age 49.1
