15 de jul. de 2022 · His mum gave him the nickname Shuggie (short for “sugar”), while his dad—R&B impresario Johnny Otis—raised him on blues and jazz. He was just 11 years old when he started playing nightclubs with his dad’s band, bypassing age restrictions with a fake moustache and sunglasses.
21 de out. de 2006 · Shuggie Otis is the very definition of "If Only", as in: If only he never retired and dedicated himself to be a blues guitarist, he probably would be considered one of the all-time greats today. Unfortunately, we only have a very small collection of his brilliance, and I am thrilled to add these track to my blues library of tunes

Shuggie Otis, perhaps best known as the son of legendary bandleader, Johnny Otis plays some mean guitar. Shuggie began playing guitar when he was two years old and performing professionally with is father's band at the age of eleven, often disguising himself with dark glasses and a false mustache so that he could play with his father's band in after-hours nightclubs.
