Growing up with Warner Oland and Sydney Toler portraying Charlie Chan, I found that it took some time to get used to Roland Winter as Chan. In "The New Adventures Of Charlie Chan", J. Carrol Naish was a totally different Chan than I was accustomed. I bought the complete series with a little skepticism, or maybe a lot.
