Grey spent the final years of his life surrounded by his books, family, and dogs in Howick. On July 17, 1845, he passed away quietly in his bed at the age of 81. He is interred in the Church of St Michael and All Angels. Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey was the Prime Minister of UK from 1830 to 1834.
