Duncan Grant, vars far Bartle Grant var officer, vistades i Indien och Burma mellan 1887 och 1894. Åren 1894 till 1899 gick han i Hillbrow School i Rugby, där han undervisades av en teckningslärare och blev intresserad av japanska tryck. Mellan 1899 och 1901 utbildades han vidare vid St Paul's School i London.

Duncan James Corrowr Grant (21 January 1885 – 8 May 1978) was a Scottish painter and designer of textiles, pottery, theatre sets, and costumes. He was a member of the Bloomsbury Group. His father was Bartle Grant, a "poverty-stricken" major in the army, and much of his early childhood was spent in India and Burma.
