João V, o Sábio (em bretão: Yann V ar Fur, em francês: Jean V le Sage; Vannes, 24 de dezembro de 1389 — Nantes, 28 de agosto de 1442) foi duque de Bretanha, conde de Montfort, e conde titular de Richmond, de 1399 até sua morte.
O duque João faleceu no dia 30 de abril de 1341. Como não deixou descendência, a morte dele levou a uma disputa pelo ducado da Bretanha entre o meio-irmão do falecido duque, João de Montfort, e sua sobrinha, Joana de Penthièvre.
Joan of Penthièvre (French: Jeanne de Penthièvre; c. 1319 – 10 September 1384) reigned as Duchess of Brittany together with her husband, Charles of Blois, between 1341 and 1364. Her ducal claims were contested by the House of Montfort, which prevailed only after an extensive civil war, the War of the Breton Succession.
