Lord Montagu is the son of Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu, 3rd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu (1926–2015), and his first wife, Belinda, Lady Montagu, née Crossley (b. 1932). Montagu is the grandson of John Douglas-Scott-Montagu, 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu (1866–1929) and his second wife, Alice Crake (1895–1996).

Elizabeth Belinda Douglas-Scott-Montagu, Baroness Montagu of Beaulieu, née Crossley (born 11 January 1932), is a British embroiderer. Belinda Crossley was born to Captain Hon. John Crossley and his second wife, the former Sybelle Drummond. Her father was a younger son of Savile Crossley, 1st Baron Somerleyton.
