Hon Dame Elish Angiolini, DBE QC was commissioned in 2018 to undertake an independent review of complaints handling, investigations and misconduct in relation to policing in Scotland. In establishing this review, the Scottish Government and Crown Office sought to bring greater fairness, transparency, accountability and proportionality, protecting the human rights of all involved.

She has enjoyed an incredible career, which included being Lord Advocate of Scotland from 2006 until 2011, having previously been Solicitor General since 2001. Lady Angiolini was the first woman, the first Procurator Fiscal, and the first solicitor to hold either post.
