She marched with a tartan sash along with her husband David Ogilvy’s Forfarshire regiment. This young man was the Earl of Airlie and he had raised his regiment in no time at all notwithstanding not all were willing volunteers.

Airlie, aware that he would be forced to renounce the King, left Scotland, leaving his house in the keeping of his oldest son, Lord Ogilvie.
