31 de mai. de 2016 · The ‘Tate effect’ is, at its core, measured by the fact that Tate Modern welcomed, and continued to receive about three times more visitors than the consultants predicted, and twice as many as the Tate Modern team expected. Many of those ‘unexpected’ visitors were first-time visitors to art galleries, or even to museums.

Inaugurado no ano 2000, à beira do Tâmisa, na antiga estação de energia de Bankside, de frente para a Millennium Bridge, na margem oposta à St Paul’s Cathedral, o museu faz parte do grupo Tate, conjunto de quatro galerias de arte.
12 de set. de 2016 · O Bankside Power Station, em Londres, ficou em desuso de 1981 até 2000, quando abriu ao público como o Museu Tate Modern. Os arquitetos suíços Herzog & de Meuron abordaram a conversão com gestos relativamente leves, criando um espaço público contemporâneo sem diminuir a presença histórica da edificação.
