Sally of the Sawdust: Directed by D.W. Griffith. With Carol Dempster, W.C. Fields, Alfred Lunt, Erville Alderson. Judge Foster throws his daughter out because she married a circus man. She leaves her baby girl with Prof. McGargle before she dies. Years later Sally is a dancer with whom Peyton, a son of Judge Foster's friend, falls in love. When Sally is arrested McGargle proves her real parentage.
2 de nov. de 2009 · Sally of the Sawdust runs a little long, as do many D. W. Griffith films, but overall, it is a delight. Peppered throughout the film are examples of the "bits" that W. C. Fields is famous for. I am a big W. C. Fields fan and watched Sally of the Sawdust to see more of him, but this one had a surprise for me in the form of Carol Dempster.
