Nim's Island is a 2008 Australian adventure-fantasy film directed by Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levin and starring Abigail Breslin, Jodie Foster, and Gerard Butler. A sequel, Return to Nim's Island, will air on the Hallmark Channel on March 15 in the U.S. and will be released on DVD 19 March 2013, exclusively to Wal-Mart, and two days later on 21 March worldwide.
Edmund travels to the Island to prove Nim’s existence some years later. Unfortunately, he brings with him horrible poachers that seek to ruin Nim’s paradise forever.
Fourteen year old Nim, more determined than ever to protect her island and all the wildlife that call it home, faces off against resort developers and animal poachers. Soon she realizes she can’t depend on her animal cohorts alone and must make her first human friend – Edmund, who’s run away to the island from the mainland – to save her home.
In Return to NimÍs Island, Nim is the precocious daughter of scientist father Jack. Nim, a bit older now, still has a gift to be ñone with natureî and her amazing animal friends. But now that developers and poachers threaten her island, she and her dad must fight to preserve their pristine home and its abundant wildlife. Rating. PG.
