Nick trying to prove something to his old man was clearly the meaty bit. The movie has a simple plot with fewer characters at the beginning: Nick is celebrating his birthday and goes with Nora and Asta to his hometown. Then there is a murder and some paintings in the mix, and the mystery is compelling enough.
