Fünf Autoren schusterten am Drehbuch herum; José Frade wollte, dass das Gebräu mehr und mehr nach Stanley Kubricks »A Clockwork Orange« (1971) schmecken sollte — in Großbritannien lief der Film schließlich auch unter dem Titel »Clockwork Terror«, während er in den USA (unter anderem) als »Murder in a Blue World« zu sehen war.
