Hackett has set one world record at 1,500 metres, 14:34.56 in winning the 2001 World Championship in Fukuoka, Japan. That same year, he also set the World Record on the 1500 m short course, 14:10.10. Both records still stood when Hackett announced his retirement in late 2008.

Grant George Hackett OAM (born 9 May 1980) is a former Australian swimmer. He is best known for winning the men's 1500 metres freestyle race at both the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He retired after the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing . Hackett was born in Southport of the Gold Coast, Queensland.
