Eighth Doctor. The Eighth Doctor is an incarnation of the Doctor, the protagonist of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. He is portrayed by Paul McGann . The character was introduced in the 1996 TV film Doctor Who, a back-door pilot produced in an unsuccessful attempt to relaunch the series following its 1989 cancellation.
Paul John McGann (Liverpool, 14 november 1959) is een Engels acteur. Hij werd genomineerd voor een BAFTA TV Award voor zijn rol in de miniserie The Monocled Mutineer (1986) en voor een Saturn Award voor die als het titelpersonage in de televisiefilm Doctor Who (1996).

McGann has stayed busy over the years having further adventures as his Doctor in mediums beyond television, from comics and novels to his extensive run of Big Finish audio dramas. But it would be so satisfying to see him get the chance to play the role properly again -- and serve as a very real reminder that the current season of the flagship show isn't the only place for stories about the Doctor.
