Selkie (Viola and Sea Version) 'Selkie' was born out of a special request from Mary Anne Hobbs for Anna to record a live improvisation as part of BBC Radio 6 Music's 2022 Art is Everywhere event, which this year celebrated how the natural world can inspire creativity.
Anna explains: “The original Sea Souls album was written and recorded in 2020 – a very private form of catharsis as we entered a new and unknown world. It was never intended to be performed live. This new album reflects the opening up of the world, as the pieces are given new life through the interaction and performance of live musicians in a room together.
Biography. Anna Phoebe is a violinist and composer on cross-genre collaborative projects, working across science, space, poetry, dance, film and art. Anna’s latest album Sea Souls has received widespread radio support, including from Scala Radio, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 6 Music, Soho Radio, BBC Radio London, and KEXP.
