Clannad. Clannad bridged the gap between traditional Celtic music and pop. The results were usually an entrancing, enchanting form of pop that managed to fuse the disparate elements together rather seamlessly. Such fusions earned the band an international cult of fans.

"Banba" may take a while to grow on you, depending on which Clannad "sound" you like most. This album has a greater number of commercial-sounding tracks on it, but the sheer vocal and instrumental artistry lifts them out of the ordinary.

Clannad es un grupo musical irlandés de Gweedore (Gaoth Dobhair), en el Condado de Donegal (Dún na n'Gall). Su música ha sido catalogada como Folk (o Folk Rock), New Age y Celta. La formación la componen Máire Ní Bhraonáin (ahora conocida como Moya Brennan), sus hermanos Ciarán O'Braonáin , Pól O'Braonáin , y sus dos tíos Noel y Pádraig O'Dugáin .
Bandgeschichte. Clannad wurde in Gweedore, County Donegal, von der Brennan-Familie gegründet. Der Name steht für an Clann as Dobhar ( ein Clan bzw. eine Familie aus Dobhar – Gaoth Dobhair ist der irische Name für Gweedore). Moya Brennan, Ciarán Brennan und Pól Brennan traten schon früh im Pub ihres Vaters Leo auf.
