He also talks about his marriage to Zsa Zsa Gabor in an amusing and generous way. He’s not entirely a cad, that Sanders. But he’s not without his faults, either, which he merrily exploits.
Memoirs of A Professional Cad has much to say about Hollywood and the stars George Sanders worked with and befriended, not to mention the irrepressible Tsa Tsa Gabor who became his wife. But at heart it is less a conventional autobiography, and more a Machiavellian guide to life, and the art of living, from a man who knew a thing or two on the subject.
16 de ago. de 2021 · I have long meant to read his Memoirs of a Professional Cad and finally made time to do so. Sanders early life sounds rather interesting, particularly for it’s internationality. Born in Russia, his family fled to England to escape the Russian Revolution. He attended several schools there, before going to work in a PR/marketing capacity.
Memoirs of A Professional Cad has much to say about Hollywood and the stars George Sanders worked with and befriended, not to mention the irrepressible Tsa Tsa Gabor who became his wife. But at heart it is less a conventional autobiography, and more a Machiavellian guide to life, and the art of living, from a man who knew a thing or two on the subject.
Perhaps it was the way he spoke - like a well-tuned cello voicing aphorisms. His autobiography, The Memoirs of a Professional Cad, first published in 1960, is most probably the wittiest book ever written by an actor.

I finished it in one day. George Sanders had such an intelligent and humorous way of writing. By the end of the book, I felt as if I had known George personally as a friend. George offers a down-to-earth and surprisingly humble insight into his early life, his marriages and of course, his career as a "professional cad".
