13 de abr. de 2012 · It’s set to be a big Saturday for big Herbie. Before the Twins-Rangers game, Kent Hrbek will have his statue unveiled outside Gate 14 tomorrow at Target Field. The former first basemen will join Kirby Puckett, Tony Oliva, Harmon Killebrew and Rod Carew as the only players with statues outside the ballpark.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kent Hrbek was an instant fan favorite when he joined the Twins in 1982, following a .379 batting average in the California League, best among all pro hitters in 1981. He hit the first home run in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome on April 3, 1982 in an exhibition game against the Phillies.

Hrbek is an avid hunter and fisherman, particularly in his home state of Minnesota. He hosted an outdoor sports program on FOX 9 called Kent Hrbek Outdoors from 2004–2010. Hrbek is a perennial pitchman for Twin Cities-area HVAC companies offering Carrier Heating and Air Conditioning equipment.
