Surface Warfare Officers School Command (SWOS or SWOSCOLCOM) located here trains surface warfare officers to serve on surface combatants as officers, enlisted engineers, and enlisted navigation professionals in order to fulfill the Navy's mission to maintain global maritime superiority. Naval Justice School (NJS) opened in Newport in 1950.
1 de abr. de 2024 · On April 1, 2024, the Naval Justice School (NJS) Chief Petty Officers hosted an event to celebrate the Chief Petty Officer’s 131st birthday. The event opened with remarks from LNC Michael Lightsey and concluded with the NJS Chiefs Mess providing facts about the history of the Chief Petty Officer.
The Naval Justice School provides introductory legal courses for non-legal Marines. The courses provided are the Senior Officer Course, Senior Enlisted Legal Course, Legal Officer Course, and the Legal Clerk Course. These courses are for Commanders, First Sergeants/Sergeant Majors, Adjutants, and their clerks respectively.
