Elizabeth Barrett Browning died in June 1861 and was buried in the Protestant Cemetery in Florence where she has an elaborate, elevated stone tomb. Robert Browning abandoned Florence and came back to England where he would live until 1889, publishing her Last Poems in 1862 as a tribute.
