28 de dez. de 2022 · Led by Dr. Ron Ferguson, The Basics, Inc. grew out of the Achievement Gap Initiative at Harvard University in partnership with the Black Philanthropy Fund in Boston, Massachusetts. A sturdy foundation for school readiness is built around social, emotional, and cognitive skills among children birth to age three to bolster brain development across whole communities.
Dr. Ron Ferguson, a Professor at the Kennedy School of Public Policy and Director of the Achievement Gap Institute at Harvard, launched The Basics, Inc. Framework and Outreach efforts. Spring 2016 Dr. Ron Ferguson, director of Harvard’s Achievement Gap Initiative, was invited by Early Matters to give a keynote about The Basics at their annual meeting.
The Basics, initially developed by Dr. Ron Ferguson at Harvard in 2016, is a scientifically proven strategy focused on five key principles for early learning and brain development. The ultimate mission of The Basics is to foster social, emotional, and cognitive skill-building among children from birth to age 5, creating a solid foundation for school readiness across entire communities.

The Basics, Inc. leads the Basics Learning Network in which dozens of communities in the US and abroad are helping families seize the opportunity that the science shows they have to boost early learning and brain development.
