Childhood & Early Life. Elizabeth Barrett was born on 6 March 1806, in County Durham, England, to Edward Barrett Moulton-Barrett and Mary Graham Clarke. She was the couple’s eldest daughter. She had three sisters and eight brothers, one of who died as a child.
