Located in Warwickshire, the School was founded in 1567 by Lawrence Sheriff, purveyor of spices to Queen Elizabeth I, as a Free Grammar School for the boys. By 1667 Rugby was acquiring a name for scholarship and it developed rapidly under a series of outstanding masters.

  6. A non-returnable fee of £250, payable to Rugby School, is charged on registration. About 18 months before entry parents are asked to pay the Entrance Fee of £1,250. Payment of this Fee constitutes on the parents’ part, a pledge that Rugby is their first choice of School.
