I can picture how this might work on paper in novel form, but this film is empty. The main crutch of the film are papers/letters that might reveal something about a famous poet named Aspern. But as we get plenty of flashbacks to his life, we barely get any character from him or anyone he's affected by.
Cast. A young American publisher sets off on a journey to the jungles of Venezuela to acquire the valuable and original manuscripts of his beloved poet, Jeffery Aspern. There he discovers the poet's ancient muse, Juliana Bordereau, living in a dilapidated cocoa hacienda with her recluse niece, Tita.
