"Somebody That I Used to Know" é uma canção do cantor e compositor belgo-australiano Gotye, com a participação da cantora neo-zelandeza Kimbra.A canção foi lançada na Austrália e na Nova Zelândia em 5 de julho de 2011 pela gravadora Eleven Music, como o segundo single do terceiro álbum de Gotye, Making Mirrors (2011).
Kimbra was inspired by Greek mythology for the album and spent time in a small sheep farm in the middle of Los Angeles. Kimbra went to the farm the day after the 2013 Grammys . "I'd been caught up with all the Grammy and Gotye stuff happening, and the touring, the constant affirmation— or praise, or criticism, or self-reflection— everywhere," she said.

Musically, Kimbra was heavily influenced by Björk, The Mars Volta, Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright and others during the creation of Vows. She wanted the album to have an overall jazzy feel, thus trying make a record that pushes boundaries but still be considered "pop music".
