Both Museums have been entrusted to the care of the Vatican Museums since 1999. In 1785 the Collection of Engravings (Gabinetto delle Stampe) was founded. The scholarly eighteenth century also saw the emergence of a project to publish a complete catalogue of the manuscripts which were preserved in the Library.
