Colonel Archibald Gracie IV was an American writer, real estate investor, and survivor of the sinking of the Titanic.Gracie was a member of the prominent Gracie family, which had built the famed Gracie Mansion, currently the residence of the mayor of New York City.

Born Archibald Gracie IV, in Mobile, Alabama, his father was a West Point graduate who became a Brigadier General in the Confederate Army and was killed in the Battle of Petersburg, Virginia in 1865. Young Archibald Gracie attended the elite St. Paul's Academy in Concord, New Hampshire, and was admitted to the US Military Academy, Class of 1881, but did not graduate from the academy.
